Looking forward to hearing Richard's input on this one. Something I have personally had success with (in my limited experience) is 1) using my legs as a cue vs hands 2) switching to a hackamore/rope halter in a couple cases where a horse has soured to the bit. In both cases I release pressure with the hint of a lean backwards (or even them putting weight on hindquarters) at first so they know what I'm looking for.

With my (much more limited) experience I definitely agree. Much harder for the headers both in the arena and in the branding pen.

Welcome to you all! Look forward to hearing from you on here. How about some pictures of a horse you're currently working with?

Right on Calib McCollister, way to stick it out. I also enjoyed Richard's email. Sometimes that frustration (like you mentioned with your roan) makes you want to scrap it all. Look forward to hearing more about what you're able to get done with this guy.
