I been breaking a riding horses for clients for some times now and I truly love the B1 horsemanship’s community and training videos. I’m struggling right now with this 9 year old mare I’m riding for a client. I thought her how to backup on the ground and she does well with it but won’t back up under saddle. I have tried to ask her in multiple different ways and I have used a couple different bits. What she does when I as is she brings her chin to her chest and opens her mouth and stays like that. She doesn’t even take a step back or even try to back up. I guess what I’m asking is what other ways can you teach a horse to back up under saddle when they do very well backing up on the ground?
