Richard takes 4 special horses in for training each winter. The goal is to build a rock solid foundation. The kind that will last the rest of the horse's life.

Getting the right start
Foundation is everything with horses. Richard's program was born on the ranch and is designed to work with the horse, not against it.
Snaffle bit Mastery
The feel of a snaffle bit is as foreign to a horse as it would be to us. Richard knows how to introduce it, then use it to get soft and light control.
Calm, confident, Quiet
Eratic behavior in horses comes from a lack of understanding and confidence. The goal of the ES20 programs is to equip the horse with tools he can use then build his confidence through repetition.
Roping, cattle and ranch work
Your horse will be given all the tools he needs to walk right out of our training facility and go to work. Whether he's on the ranch, exploring the trails, or headed for the show pen he'll be ready.
This isn't a normal training experience.
How long will my horse be with you in South Carolina?
4 months. We receive horses in early January and they usually go home May 1.
What's included in the package?
In short, everything your horse needs from the time he gets to us to the time he leaves. Including deworming, feed, hay, training, and shoeing. *Everything except emergency vet costs.
Can you help me with hauling?
Absolutely. We know some reputable haulers and can help set it up.
What will my horse eat while in training?
We feed the highest quality alfalfa hay, alfalfa pellets, and 6666 Equine Supplements. Nothing better for the gut of a horse.
Can I come visit my horse at the ranch?
Absolutely. Although we cannot provide housing, we encourage owners to come visit. In fact, lessons are included in the package. We want this to be a long-term success story.
Where will my horse be staying while in training?
Your horse will live a good life with us. He'll have a fresh clean stall and plenty of turn-out time in our safe spacious paddocks.
How often will my horse be ridden?
Horses are generally trained for 30-45 minutes per day 5 days a week. We also take them out on trail rides and work cattle with them.
What is the cost?
The investment in your horse's education during the B1 Winter Semester is $20,000 all inclusive.

Richard is truly amazing to work with as a customer and does a incredible job training horses. I sent my 3 year old mare to him for about 4 months and she is a night and day difference. He put the best handle on her and she truly is already one of the nicest horses I have ever ridden. He takes amazing care of them while they are with him she looked amazing when she came back home. I was nervous to send my mare anywhere and I felt true confidence handing her over to him. He put a very solid foundation on her and introduced her to trail riding, roping, being around cows, and so much more. I hope to keep in touch for a very long time and continue to go over and ride with him and learn! Can not recommend him enough for his great work!

I found Richard by watching Low Country Cowboys. Really liked the way he treated the horses so I took a shot and sent my mare to him for 5 months of all around ranch training. It was worth every penny. Richard is the real deal. Solid horseman with a world of experience and treats the horses right. Takes the time to teach the horse not beat the horse. Great trainer and horseman. B1 does it right.
