Hi Judith, if your colt is not showing aggression toward you or other people, I doubt you should worry about it.  Lots of colts are what we call "mouthy" or they are orally fixated.  It turns out that we will be uploading a new ES20 with a colt that has the same tendancies very soon.  Nothing to worry about and they will usually grow out of it.  Just make sure he doesn't try to take a bite out of you!😉. Keep us updated on your progress and let me know if I can help along the way!  Richard

Hi Leah, How're things going with your young horses?

Hi Gina, Sorry for the late response!  I don't change anything except maybe put the filly on Regumate if her cycle is too bad.  They will usually work right through.  Richard

Hi Gerry, That rope ia a waxed cotton.  5/16' x 60'.  I like those and use them alot.  There are some polys I will use from time to time, but The cotton is my favorite.  I get all my ropes from 3:10 Ranch Life.

Hi Katie,  That weighted bit does a couple of things.  The weight of the rings puts a little more umph behind a pull.  When I pull with one rein, it bumps a little harder on the side of the horse's mouth getting their attention a little easier.  Also, the added weight makes the release faster when they find the right spot to put their head.  The straight mouthpeice offers a different feel that some horses respond to better.  I will say that I rarely use this bit more than a few times as they tend to become dull to it.  I like to use it and go back to something lighter ASAP.  That doesn't mean that a horse couldn't use it long term, just my experience.  Hope this helps!  Richard
