Thomas I'd get a JWP o-ring or egg butt snaffle, a reinsman argentine snaffle, and a short/medium shank correction.  Also, here are some brands of bit makers that are very good but don't cost a lot: Dutton, Dennis Moreland, Don Henson, Professional's Choice, Classic Equine.  The PC Bob Avila line is very good.  I'd avoid anything that has rough edges or finish, pinch points, or excessive shanks.  Tom Thumb bits and mechanical hackamores are also off the list.  Hope this helps!

Jessica Shockey. I think we could create a series for every issue!😂.   I don't think you have an issue, though.  If you have his attention, there's no need to pressure him for it, so just go ahead and get to work.  He does need to understand what is expected of him concerning forward motion, though.  Once you have him thinking, start asking him to move out for longer and longer periods of time until he will stay at a trot for a couple of trips around the pen.  You might have to be a little insistent, but just make sure you get what you want before releasing the pressure.   Good luck!

Ashley Land I know it seems daunting, but you just have to stick with the program.  Eventually, he will settle in.  I've had it take several (10+) days before seeing results.  Often times, it will get worse before it gets better.  Let us know how it goes.🙂. Richard
