Richard Boatwright im super proud of both my colts! I've made great progress with them both over the last week. Lots of handling, loading and unloading in the trailer, walking over my ground poles and up over my bridge. Lunging and getting them to move their feet, hips and shoulders. I feel like I'm cheating because they are making it very easy on me.  My little dunskin is excelling a tad faster than the roan. But that's ok. I just have to change my approach a little for him. I'm learning a ton as well. Got my dunskin tied today and he did great. First time and also lots of brushing and lifting up feet .   Farrier is coming next week I know they are definitely in need of a trim so I'm trying to prepare them for him to make this as smooth as possible. I want it to be a good experience... any tips?  I lift up all 4 feet pretty easy and hold till I feel them relax then I release the foot. Having a little trouble with the back feet they want to jerk away alot but I'm persistent and patient.

Here in central Texas we cry when it gets below 50. Weve had some really cold weather lately low 30s and 20s. I just layer up and wear my chinks. And gloves! My hands suffer the most. I personally like cooler weather I'm definitely the minority though where I am. I just ride in my little pen at home or I'll haul to the church arena if I need to. Sometimes just ride down the road to the hay pastues and ride around for a while.  

Richard Boatwright it's going quite well. I do not have a round pen yet. Itll be delivered in about 2 more weeks. Ive separated them into their own pens next to one another.  Because they are double trouble lol it's just easier for me to work on 1 at a time. The dun is the instigator. They are leading great. Been picking feet up and still trying to get them use to being touched all over. When i go in to catch the the dun he runs from me but one thing I noticed if I just stay still and wait a minute he comes right up to me and I can halter him. The other he just waits for me to get him no running away. I go out and catch and mess with at least 2 to 3 times a day.  No idea of im doing right but it's getting less dramatic each time.  They are getting use to me and our routine. 

Stephen Gowling they are doing great! Had a few days of trouble with the roan quit eating and starting looking poor. We figured he was dealing with ulcers just from how he was looking. A few doses of ulcerguard and he's back on track. They are both mostly halter broke enough now and both lead decently.  Despite his little setback, he's gotten more handling with us having to syringe the meds into him and take temps. I'm pleased with how they are both coming along. 

Richard BoatwrightBoatwright i will share their papers. Originally I was only purchasing the buckskin but when we got there my husband decided to take the little bay roan home too. We got them haltered yesterday afternoon. They are doing OK! I was able to catch them this morning pretty easy. The roan is definitely more standoffish than my buckskin. But I was able to catch him and rub on him some this morning before I fed them. I'll be honest I've never had any be so scared of being touched like this so I'm learning as I go. My buckskin is naturally more into human interaction he walked right up to me when we went to pick them up. He wanted to be rubbed on from the start.
