HI Joe,  Sorry for the late response.  I don't get notifications for this page for some reason.  Unfortunately,  there is no way to cure cribbing (wind sucking).  Now that being said, lot's of horses will chew on wood fencing and that's not cribbing.  Does your horse hang his teeth on the fence and gulp air or just chew the fence?  RIchard

Hi Judith,  A lot of young colts (not usually fillies) like to have things in their mouth.  Generally, it should be ignored and will go away on its own with time.  Neches is a very "mouthy" horse and he has almost totally given it up now (3 months in training).  Now, that being said, if he is biting you you must take action.  I find tapping them in the legs with a stick until they get out of your space works well.  As far as being halter broke, I think as long as your horse can halter, lead, tie ,and stand to be groomed they are ready to go.  Check out the videos in the Ranch Horse Ten Commandments under "Be Led" for more info.  Good luck and keep us posted!  Richard

That's a piece of 1/4" halter cord.  Works pretty good.
