Hey Guys just went live,Ā https://b1horsemanship.com/programs/live-xlpo9lqjisq
Hey!
Iāve got a nice 2 yr old AQHA Colt Iām bringing along. Heās a lot like the horse āneechesā. I got the first saddling done, he bronced out quite a bit to be honest hahah. Anywho, now when I go to throw on the saddle, and the stirrups, etc., fall on the opposite side he is veryyyyyy sensitive. When I did do the first saddle, he bucked good but by the end of the session he was working well with it. Just curious if thereās anything specific I should do to get him more ācomfortableā with things being on his back. Heās completely fine with the saddle pad and cinch combo, Iāve flanked him, and had ropes all over him. Is it a matter of me getting more confident in letting him bronc out?Ā
We're going live again tonight.Ā 6pm mountain.Ā Bring your questions and complaintsš!Ā Hope to see you there.
Lil fella comin alongĀ
Missed the call last night darn it. Hope thereās another one. Anywho. Hereās an update on that rescue mare that Iām training. I honestly think sheās broke. And someone ruined her- she understands pressure- sheās used to people with weight in the stirrups- she adapts to training methods- and will try different tricks and once she realizes they donāt work we have break thru. So weāre inching closer to our first rideĀ
I know this isn't really training related, but wanted to see if you Richard, and/or anyone else had any experience with this.Ā
I got this mare about 3 months ago and we've been doing groundwork, ground driving, and I've gotten in her and got a few steps.Ā
She set up due to all the rain we've been getting(thank God) and turned up lame about a week ago. We exhausted the resources of our local vet and wound up having to go about an hour and a half south for x-rays. Vet highly suspected abscess-ok fine. Soak, pack, wrap.Ā
But the skyline view showed severe navicular front right, moderate front left. She just turned 5 in April-a baby.Ā
This is all very new to me and I don't know what life might look like moving forward. She isn't yet broke and I'm a bit concerned that even if she can handle light riding, she may not be able to physically handle some of the groundwork it would take to get us to the point of light riding.Ā
Any thoughts?
How do I get an older horse to be good for a farrier ? Just pick there feet up repeatedly till they are fine with it ? Or are there other methods to it ?
Ok, tonight's the night.Ā We'll be live right here at 6pm mtn time.Ā Hope you can make it!
Something a little different is happening this Wednesday.

We'll cover whatever comes up, what's going on here at the Canadian River Ranch, horsemanship, whatever's on your mind. If you've got questions, bring them. If you just want to listen, that's fine too.
