Richard Boatwright we had our first foray last night.... Not sure how effective it was, but as you said, I just went for it and quit making excuses for not implementing. Thanks for putting this all together, and being so active in responding to all my questions.

Richard BoatwrightStephen Gowling  Thank you guys for your input, coincides with my own thought process on the matter.  We have been trying to spend 10-15 minutes a day with mom and baby, with handling baby about five minutes a day.  Rubbing her, playing with her legs and feet, handling her around her ears, etc.  I intend to continue with this till weaning....which I guess leads to my next question.

Upon weaning, what are you looking to do with them from that time til you start them a year and change later?  Richard Boatwright do you have any videos showing this (or have reference to any other good resources?

Richard Boatwright I currently do not have a round pen (working on remedying that), can I effectively do this in an arena? Or do I need the walls of the pen to keep them focused in?

Nice Brenn Hill reference 😀

We just picked up a mare and foal this weekend. The foal was born on 5/28, so almost a month old. My question is in regards to your philosophy with babies?

How much should they be played with, or not? What sorts of activities are appropriate? At what age/level of development do you do different activities?

I know there is a continuum of thoughts on this, from let them out on the range and don't touch them till they're two year old, to play with them everyday like a family pet. As I've been going through your content (I just wrapped up ES 20 Colt Starting with Neches) you've alluded to a couple different things regarding this "let the babies learn to become horses first" and "the owners of Neches did a real nice job working with him with the halter."

I've really grown to appreciate your practical approach to horsemanship and would love to hear your take on this. (I've looked all over the site to see if you had any videos and couldn't find anything, so if you do please direct me to them)

Richard Boatwright what are you using for your flag set-up? Were you intentional in the sizes, colors, etc? Or does it really matter?

Richard Boatwright I actually just saw that in this week's email. For once ordered up!! Thanks

Richard Boatwright you're right you had two ropes in this video haha.

I'm talking the lead/lunge line rope you are doing the bowline around the neck with.
