Brett Petersen My pleasure!  Keep in touch because sometimes I forget that I know things and it'll come to me later on 😂.  I like hearing about the progress too.  

Stephen Gowling Oh yeah, I forgot to catch up with you guys.  Did great.  Hot Wheels and Lucky ended up 5th and 6th.  We didn't lose a cow and had a great time.  The clinic was a roaring success.  Already lookig at more dates in the fall.

Brett Petersen I wouldn't say a round pen is necessary, but it sure makes things easier.  I'd just get started and see how it goes.  If you can get your horse accustomed to lunging in the arena without pulling on you too much, I'll bet you could get it done.  Good luck.🙂

Brett Petersen Well, at Creek, we wouldn't touch the babies at all until weaning just because there were so many and they grew up outside.  That was not ideal, but just the way it had to be.  It was pretty dangerous for us and the foals for those first few weeks after weaning.  I've also been around foals that had been raised like pets.  I actually prefer the wild way over this one because the little horse grows up to be a big horse that still thinks it can get all over a person.  I think the ideal way is somewhere in between.  I have a foal at home right now and I don't want the foal to be wild, but I don't want a pet either.  I want her to learn to be a horse with her momma. I also want to be able to get my hands on her if need be, though.  I might even put a halter on her occasionally to start to teach how it works.  I guess the biggest thing is to treat a little horse the same way you would a bigger horse.  Have them respect your space and no treats.  Keep us posted on the progress.

Harding Brown He looks good.  I like those Outlaws. Never rode one, but they move good.  Let us know if you end up with him.

Harding Brown I don't think his pasterns are too long.  They are medium which is what I look for.  If I had to be critical, I'd say his hocks are too high, he's down hill, there's no depth to his stifle, and his shoulder is too straight.  He might be a tick clubby on his right front, too.  None of that matters, though, if he has the heart to work.  

conagher I don't typically sideline hobble mine, just the fronts.  The rule of thumb, though, is get the horse to stand square and set the rope to just reach from foot to foot without tension and without dragging on the ground.  Let us know how it goes.🤠
