Love taking the youngsters to spook busting courses, always great fun to see them overcome fears, also great experience for the handlers.

I help out running them sometimes and always get great satisfaction working with a horse that’s petrified at the start and seeing them leave a totally different animal and that counts for the owners also!

My better half has just given me some advice! Some of the sheath cleaning solutions can cause reactions, she used to use warm soapy water!

In the UK we have actual Willy washers who’s only job is going and sheath cleaning!

Sometimes a gelding will “drop” out when relaxed and maybe getting groomed, her advice is to just gently work on them in that area but watch for the kick, she also added you can get up inside even if they are not dropped out to give a clean and check for beans etc

she opened my eyes on this subject!

I’ll say no more but as Metallica sang…. Sleep with one eye open clutching your pillow tight

Lots of viewing to commence, telecasting from my iPhone to the big TV makes these all the more enjoyable, thanks for the all new content, appreciate all the time spent making these videos 👏

Whilst I was away today earning money to feed the herd my better half seized the initiative to get the big daft lad back in the round pen working the code and wants to get some ground driving done whilst I am away in the USA with Richard Boatwright so plenty of recaps on the videos I think this weekend coming up!

Makes me so happy as she is a nervous soul around him given his size (17h+) and his young age

What a great post, testimony to the hard work you have put in, the weather looks fantastic, can’t wait to get back trail riding once the mud bath has subsided around us here, even a trip to the beach to take the horses swimming

Lynn Morrison haha love it, I find just exposing them to stuff on a very regular basis helps them, no quick fix for spooks just that reassurance they are not going to die and your the constant in that equation, one of my girls still cat leaps in the air when a pheasant flies up when out hacking, but she doesn’t bolt now, always makes for an entertaining ride!
